Environment Minister Urges Youth to Support Prabowo's Priority Programmes
Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Minister of Environment, Jumhur Hidayat, has invited the younger generation to collaborate in monitoring various priority programmes under President Prabowo Subianto.
This was stated by Jumhur while attending the 53rd anniversary of the National Committee of Indonesian Youth (KNPI) and the 81st Independence Day of the Republic of Indonesia in Jakarta on Saturday (29/8).
“President Prabowo is currently undertaking a revolution across various sectors, including the eradication of corruption. I hope the youth, particularly the KNPI, support this movement,” Jumhur said in an official statement in Jakarta on Sunday.
According to Jumhur, the Prabowo administration has been implementing various priority programmes aimed at reforming several strategic sectors while strengthening the foundation towards ‘Indonesia Emas 2045’.
These changes are part of a revolution across multiple sectors. Therefore, he hopes that the youth will not merely be beneficiaries of development, but will also emerge as a force that oversees and ensures that this agenda of change is carried out consistently.
“These changes must be directed to ensure that development provides broader benefits for the community,” he said.
Jumlam also positioned the eradication of corruption as a vital part of the national reform agenda. According to him, a clean government is one of the prerequisites for various development programmes to run effectively and for their benefits to truly reach the people.
“Corruption practices not only damage state finances but also hinder development and erode public trust in state institutions,” he explained.
He noted that the war against corruption cannot be placed solely on the shoulders of the government and law enforcement agencies. The community must be part of the movement, including the youth, who hold a strategic position in building a culture of integrity.
“The youth must help oversee this. We must not allow the changes being implemented by the government to remain solely a government matter. This must be a collective movement. If the youth are merely spectators, then change will not become a people’s movement,” he added.
Meanwhile, the General Chairman of the KNPI Central Executive Board, Haris Pertama, expressed his organisation’s readiness to support the spirit of change led by President Prabowo.
Haris stated that the KNPI will encourage youth energy to be directed towards strengthening national development while monitoring various strategic government programmes.
“We support the spirit of revolution being undertaken by President Prabowo,” said Haris.
According to Haris, the youth must be a productive, critical, and constructive force. He added that supporting the government does not mean abandoning a critical stance, but rather ensuring that every strategic policy truly provides benefits to the community.
