Environment Minister Conducts Environmental Clean-Up at Batuah Martapura Market
Martapura, South Kalimantan (ANTARA) - Environment Minister Hanif Faisol Nurofiq carried out an environmental clean-up activity at Batuah Martapura Market in Banjar Regency, South Kalimantan, as part of the implementation of a national programme related to waste management in the regions. Hanif stated that the korve activity, or cleaning the environment together with local government and the community, is a manifestation of the President’s instructions to all regents, mayors, and governors throughout Indonesia to carry out concrete actions in handling waste issues in the regions. “The President’s concern for waste governance, which is still considered a serious problem, requires primary attention from all stakeholders at both central and regional levels,” he said after the Roll Call and Environmental Clean-Up in Martapura, Banjar, on Monday. He conveyed that President Prabowo, during a coordination meeting for the briefing of provincial, regency, and city DPRD chairmen throughout Indonesia in Magelang some time ago, once again reminded the importance of handling waste seriously and measurably. “If Indonesia wants to achieve the targets of an Advanced Indonesia and Golden Indonesia 2045, then basic problems that become polemics in various regions, including waste management, must be resolved early,” he said. Minister Hanif mentioned that waste management is still a challenge in almost all regencies and cities, so concrete steps are needed through field activities involving various elements directly. He stated that the involvement of various parties is part of efforts to build togetherness in realising a clean environment, in line with the Banjar Regency Government’s commitment to regional cleanliness management. “The korve activity is expected to strengthen the joint commitment of all community elements and local government so that the cleanliness programme can be implemented well and sustainably in Banjar Regency,” said Saidi Manysur.
