Environment audit
Environment audit
I refer to your front page article of May 10, 1996 concerning
PT Freeport, in which T. Mulya Lubis is quoted as saying that
"the environmental audit by......Dames & Moore is far from
adequate." Although he gives no basis for this conclusion, it
appears to be connected to social concerns. It should be
understood that the scope of the audit carried out by Dames &
Moore specifically excluded social issues.
The Dames & Moore audit team stands by the findings of its
audit report. As previously offered, we would be most happy to
meet with Walhi or other concerned groups to explain the
technical basis of our findings.
