Entry to Bali via Gilimanuk Tightened, Arrivals Without ID and Purpose to be Repatriated
Entry to Bali via Gilimanuk Port is being tightened during the Eid al-Fitr return flow. Residents without a clear purpose and without identification upon arrival at Gilimanuk Port, Jembrana, Bali, will be repatriated to their places of origin. From observations by detikBali, the movement of incoming residents (dukTang) at Gilimanuk Port remains relatively controlled. Although there has not yet been a drastic surge, combined officers have been deployed to inspect the administration of arriving residents. “The officers come from Dukcapil, Satpol PP, TNI, Polri, the Transportation Agency, and Linmas. This is a precautionary step ahead of the peak return flow for the 2026 Eid holiday,” stated the Head of the Population Registration Service Division of Dukcapil Jembrana, I Komang Sujana, as reported by detikBali on Thursday (26/3/2026). Currently, checks are focused at the population post in Gilimanuk Terminal. According to him, officers prioritise factual verification. In addition to being asked to show their ID card, arrivals are also required to show a clear guarantor related to their arrival in Bali. “As long as they can show supporting evidence such as photocopies or photos of the ID card on their mobile phone, have a valid NIK, and have a clear guarantor, tolerance is still given,” Sujana said. “Conversely, arrivals without complete identification, without a purpose, or without a guarantor will certainly be repatriated to their place of origin,” he added.
