Enthusiastic Residents Join 80th Bhayangkara Day Commemoration on Kelapa Island
The Jakarta Metropolitan Police’s Criminal Investigation Directorate (Ditreskrimum Polda Metro Jaya) organised a series of activities for residents on Kelapa Island, North Thousand Islands District, Thousand Islands Regency, to commemorate the 80th Bhayangkara Day. The event was held in front of the North Thousand Islands Police Station on Wednesday (1/7/2026), beginning with the cutting of a yellow rice tumpeng as a gesture of gratitude. The programme continued with prayers and competitions for both children and adults, including sack races, marble races, and karaoke. Residents and university students undertaking community service programmes (KKN) participated enthusiastically, enlivening the venue. Aid packages were subsequently distributed to residents and fishermen on Kelapa Island. One fisherman, Otim (45), expressed gratitude for the assistance. “Alhamdulillah, I received a basic food package, which will be useful for my family. I usually work as a fisherman or transport tourists during the holiday season,” he said. Another fisherman, Joko (51), hoped the Indonesian National Police (Polri) would always be present within the community and prayed they would continue to benefit society. “I am happy to receive this basic food package, it will be useful for my family. Thank you to the Police for the assistance. I hope the Police can always do good for the community, be beneficial, and always be present among the people,” he explained. The Director of Criminal Investigation at Polda Metro Jaya, Senior Commissioner Iman Imanuddin, stated that the residents’ enthusiasm demonstrates their love for the Police institution. He noted that this shows the Police are increasingly loved by the community. “Alhamdulillah, seeing the residents’ enthusiasm in this Bhayangkara Day celebration, it shows that the community naturally loves the Police. We do not need to make many statements, as the reality and facts on the ground are very festive, meaning the community truly loves the Police,” he said.
