Enthusiasm of Residents Trying New CFD Location Surprises Pramono
The Jakarta Provincial Government implemented Hari Bebas Kendaraan Bermotor (HBKB), or Car Free Day (CFD), on Jalan HR Rasuna Said in South Jakarta for the first time today. The enthusiasm of residents arriving at the location surprised Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung.
According to detikcom on Sunday (10/5/2026), residents began arriving before 06:00 WIB. They filled Jalan Rasuna Said on the eastern side in front of Plaza Festival, with communities performing rhythmic gymnastics together.
Meanwhile, on the western side, the atmosphere was calmer, with CFD visitors on Jalan Rasuna Said seen jogging and walking leisurely. Several people were observed cycling in the CFD area.
One visitor, Rizka (45), arrived at the location since 07:00 WIB. She said she came from Bekasi to join the new CFD location in Jakarta.
“From the Bekasi area. I knew about this event from social media. And also invited by friends,” she said.
Rizka intended to exercise while visiting CFD Rasuna Said. She also wanted to enjoy the culinary offerings around the location.
“Yeah, exercising while also doing some culinary exploration,” she said.
The CFD at the new location began for the first time on Sunday (10/5). The CFD on Jalan HR Rasuna Said does not replace the CFD on Jalan Sudirman-Thamrin.
Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung assessed that the inaugural CFD on Jalan Rasuna Said in South Jakarta (Jaksel) ran smoothly. Pramono was surprised by the positive reception from the public.
“Why is this (CFD) held? Because of the extraordinary public demand, and earlier I was also surprised, shocked, on the first day of CFD, it turned out that from the morning—coincidentally I had already walked, walking well and the public welcomed it very much,” Pramono told reporters on Jalan Rasuna Said, Sunday (10/5/2026).
Pramono explained that the CFD on Jalan Rasuna Said will run effectively starting 1 June. The motor vehicle-free day will be held from 05:30 WIB each time it is conducted.
“The Car Free Day we hold here starting from 05:30 is the same as in Sudirman-Thamrin, and it will be effectively implemented per 1 June,” he clarified.
