Enthusiasm in Lampung Shows Jokowi's Political Magnetism Remains Strong, Says PSI
The Indonesian Solidarity Party (PSI) has assessed that the high level of public enthusiasm in welcoming the 7th President of the Republic of Indonesia, Joko Widodo (Jokowi), during his visit to Lampung Province is proof that the former head of state’s political influence remains strong. DPP PSI Chairman Benny Kisworo, known as Benkis, stated that the significant public reception for Jokowi also brings positive impacts for his party. “Mr Jokowi’s magnetism in Lampung has not faded. The extraordinary public welcome shows he still has a strong emotional connection with the people. This situation certainly provides positive energy and a political blessing for PSI,” Benkis told reporters on Tuesday, 30 June 2026. According to Benkis, Jokowi’s visit not only captured public attention but also boosted the optimism of PSI cadres in the region. He considers Jokowi to be synonymous with leadership that is close to the people and known for programmes that the public can feel. Therefore, the high level of public enthusiasm in every Jokowi agenda indicates that the former president’s political appeal has not diminished. “People came voluntarily, welcomed him enthusiastically, and showed great respect for Mr Jokowi. This signifies that he remains a beloved figure. The effect is certainly felt by PSI, which has long been known to be close to the ideas and spirit brought by Mr Jokowi,” he said. Benkis added that PSI views this momentum as an opportunity to get closer to the public. The party is optimistic that public trust can continue to increase through consistency in fighting for programmes that favour the people, the younger generation, and regional development. He also assessed that Lampung is one of the regions with great potential for strengthening PSI’s support base. Consequently, Jokowi’s visit will be used to strengthen the party’s internal consolidation. “Mr Jokowi’s visit is not just an ordinary agenda. There is a moral message, a spirit of togetherness, and optimism that the public captures. PSI is certainly grateful if that positive energy also strengthens public trust in the party,” he concluded. Benkis believes the high level of public enthusiasm during Jokowi’s visit to Lampung shows that the former president still has influence in shaping public perception. According to him, this condition serves as political capital for PSI to expand support, both in Lampung and nationally.
