Enthusiasm as Public Explores KRI Teluk Calang-524

Hundreds of residents took the opportunity to visit the KRI Teluk Calang-524, which was opened to the public at the Navy Regional Command XII Headquarters, Jungkat, Mempawah Regency, West Kalimantan, on Saturday (4/7/2026).

Through this ‘open ship’ activity, the community was invited to gain a closer look at the warship, its main weaponry systems, and the role of the Indonesian Navy in safeguarding Indonesia’s maritime territorial sovereignty.

Visitors were able to explore various facilities on the bow deck of the KRI Teluk Calting-524. The ship was opened to the public to provide direct insight into the various main weapons systems (alutsista) and facilities utilised by the Indonesian Navy to support defence operations and the security of Indonesia’s maritime regions.

Navy personnel engaged with the public, including children, as various onboard facilities were introduced to visitors, ranging from the main deck to the rooms supporting sailing operations and defence. Beyond serving as a recreational activity, the open ship event also provided education regarding the duties and roles of the Navy in maintaining the security of shipping lanes and national maritime sovereignty.
