Hundreds of residents seized the opportunity to visit the KRI Teluk Calang-524, which was opened to the public at the XII Naval Main Base Command in Jungkat, Mempawah Regency, West Kalimantan, on Saturday (4/7/2026). Through the open ship activity, the public was invited to become more familiar with the warship, its primary weapon systems, and the role of the Indonesian Navy in maintaining the sovereignty of the nation’s maritime territory. Visitors observed various facilities on the bow deck of the KRI Teluk Calang-524. The vessel was opened for public visits to allow a direct look at the various primary weapon systems and facilities used by the Navy to support defence operations and the security of Indonesian maritime areas. Navy personnel carried a child during the open ship event. Various facilities on board were introduced to visitors, ranging from the main deck to the rooms that support operational sailing and defence. The KRI Teluk Calang-524 was docked at the pier of the XII Naval Main Base Command. Besides serving as a recreational activity, the open ship event also provided education regarding the duties and role of the Indonesian Navy in maintaining the security of shipping lanes and national maritime sovereignty.
