Entering Second Year, Prabowo States Timing is Right for Another Reshuffle

President Prabowo Subiability has stated that the second year of his leadership serves as an appropriate momentum should he decide to conduct a reshuffle of the Red and White Cabinet.

He remarked that these two years of leadership have provided sufficient time for his staff to demonstrate their capabilities. “I think it is something logical, right, two years. So each person has had time to prove their ability, and so on,” Prabowo said during the ‘Prabowo Menjawab’ presidential programme on Friday (18/9).

He made these remarks in response to a question regarding whether the period approaching the second year of his leadership would be the right moment to reshuffle the cabinet. Prabowo stated that he continuously evaluates the performance of his staff and noted that his team has been working very well.

Prabowo cited, for instance, the target for food self-sufficiency, which was achieved in a shorter timeframe than originally projected. He mentioned that while the target was to achieve food self-sufficiency within four years, the Ministry of Agriculture was able to achieve it in just one year.

Prabowo added that if a reshuffle were to occur, the reasons could be varied. “So even if there is a reshuffle later, I think it would be, among other things, for promotions; certainly, in this organisation, we must always seek ‘the right man in the right place’, competence, and if there is someone who might not be suitable for a particular position, we must be able to replace them with the right person,” he said.

Since the start of his leadership in October 2024, Prabowo has conducted several cabinet reshuffles. Most recently, Prabowo replaced the position of Finance Minister on Monday, 14 September 2026. The Finance Minister post, previously held by Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa, has been taken over by Suahasil Nazara, who was previously the Deputy Finance Minister.
