The Probolinggo Regency Government in East Java is strengthening the governance of visits to Mount Bromo by implementing an online ticketing system specifically for access from the Probolinggo area. Under this measure, visitors entering via Probolinggo will not only be required to hold the entry ticket for Mount Bromo Tengger Semeru National Park (TNBTS), but also an additional online ticket issued by the local government.

This policy drew attention after the Dinas Kepemudaan, Olahraga dan Pariwisata (Disporapar) of Probolinggo Regency conducted monitoring and evaluation (monev) of online ticket implementation on 14–15 May 2026.

The activity was led by the head of Disporapar Probolinggo, Heri Mulyadi, and involved the Department of Transportation (Dishub), the Civil Service Police Unit (Satpol PP), Sukapura District, and jeep tourism operators around Mount Bromo.

According to Heri Mulyadi, the online ticket is a new obligation for visitors who intend to access the Bromo area via Probolinggo.

Purchases are made through the official website, and every jeep carrying visitors must have a ticket in accordance with the number of passengers.

This digital system is designed to create more orderly, modern, and professional tourism management.

Local government officials say the online method makes service easier for visitors while increasing the accuracy of visitor data.

In its implementation, officers carried out ticket checks at the Wonotoro village at a three-way junction control point. Visitors who do not have a ticket will be directed back to Jetak Village to purchase online.

For visitors who already have a ticket, the entry process is smoother as they only need to scan the barcode before being allowed into the tourism area.

In addition to serving as a visitor control mechanism, the online ticket also supports visitor administration, including in the event of a future travel insurance claim.

“With the online ticket system, visitor data can be recorded more accurately, thereby facilitating the administrative process, including travel insurance claims,” explained Heri.

The Probolinggo Regency government recognises that implementing a new system may lead to queues and vehicle congestion. Therefore, monev also focuses on mitigating vehicle buildup on the route to Bromo.

Coordination with jeep operators and tourism stakeholders continues to ensure socialisation is effective and that visitors understand the obligation of the online ticket before arriving at the area.

“We will continue socialising with jeep operators and all tourism stakeholders so that the online ticket implementation can run smoothly and provide comfort for visitors,” said Heri.

“Hopefully the online ticket implementation can increase visitor comfort while supporting safer and more professional tourism services,” he added.
