Entering Ihram at Tan'im, Megawati Performs Umrah Together with Prananda and Puan
Jakarta - Fifth President of Indonesia Megawati Soekarnoputri performed umrah with her family. Megawati entered the state of ihram at the Tan’im Mosque, also known as the Aisyah Mosque, located approximately 7 kilometers from the Grand Mosque (Masjidil Haram) in Mecca, Saudi Arabia.
As observed by detikcom, Megawati and her family departed from their hotel to the Tan’im Mosque on Saturday (14/2/2026). Megawati’s son and daughter—PDIP Central Board Chairman M Prananda Prabowo with his wife Nancy Prananda, and her daughter who also serves as House of Representatives Speaker Puan Maharani—accompanied her.
Also in attendance were PDIP Central Board Head for Foreign Affairs Ahmad Basarah and Indonesian Ambassador to Tunisia Zuhairi Misrawi, who also serves as the (non-active) PDIP Central Board Head for Religious Affairs.
After entering the state of ihram, Megawati and her entourage proceeded to the Royal Guest House as the entrance into the Grand Mosque. The PDIP General Chairwoman performed the Asr prayer first before carrying out the umrah procession.
Gus Mis, as Zuhairi Misrawi is affectionately known, said Megawati’s umrah with her family this year coincided with the period leading up to the Ramadan fasting month.
“For that reason, this umrah is very meaningful and holds great significance in welcoming the holy month of Ramadan,” Zuhairi said.
Gus Mis said Megawati and her family also offered prayers for deceased family members and for the Indonesian nation.
“Ibu Megawati and her family supplicated to God Almighty for strength and wisdom in their struggle to build the beloved nation,” Gus Mis said.
“As the highlight of this year’s umrah, Megawati offered special prayers for Bung Karno, Ibu Fatmawati, Taufiq Kiemas, Surindro Supjarso, the extended family of PDI Perjuangan, and the Indonesian nation,” he added.
