Entering Dry Season, Metro Jaya Police Prepare Personnel and Equipment to Anticipate Disasters
Metro Jaya Regional Police (Polda Metro Jaya) held a Personnel and Equipment Readiness Parade as part of disaster prevention and mitigation efforts. The parade was conducted in anticipation of disasters facing the dry season.
The parade was led by Deputy Chief of Metro Jaya Police, Brigadier General Dekananto Eko Purwono, at the field of the Special Crimes Investigation Directorate (Ditreskrimsus) of Metro Jaya Regional Police on Monday (3/8). It was attended by 233 personnel, comprising 80 personnel from the Regional Mobile Brigade Unit (Satbrimobda) of Metro Jaya Police, 100 personnel from the Public Order Directorate (75 personnel from one crowd-control company and 25 from the SAR team), 50 personnel from the Water and Air Police Directorate (Ditpolairud), and 3 personnel from the Medical and Health Division (Biddokkes).
In his address, the Deputy Chief of Metro Jaya Police urged all personnel to enhance their preparedness in facing various potential disasters, particularly floods, fires and drought. According to him, preparedness must begin with mapping vulnerable areas together with all stakeholders, covering flood-prone areas, drought zones, clean water crises, fire-prone points, final waste disposal sites (TPA), and reserve water sources that can be utilised during emergencies.
Brigadier General Dekananto also emphasised the importance of strengthening coordination and synergy with the Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI), regional governments, the Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD), the Fire and Rescue Service, the National Search and Rescue Agency (Basarnas), and other relevant agencies so that disaster response can be carried out swiftly, precisely and in an integrated manner. All personnel were asked to remain ready at all times, ensure equipment is in good condition, and prioritise the safety of both officers and the public in every operation.
Beyond personnel and equipment readiness, Brigadier General Dekananto also stressed the importance of educating the public on water conservation and vigilance against potential fires. Meanwhile, the police were called upon to enforce the law firmly against any form of negligence or action resulting in fires.
“Success in disaster management is not only measured by the ability to respond to incidents, but also by efforts to prevent disasters from occurring and the speed of providing assistance to the public. Therefore, the solidarity, preparedness and dedication of all personnel must continue to be strengthened,” said Brigadier General Dekananto.
The one-star general added that these efforts were undertaken to ensure the readiness of personnel, equipment and coordination in facing various potential disasters within the jurisdiction of Metro Jaya Regional Police.
In addition to personnel, Metro Jaya Regional Police also deployed various disaster mitigation facilities and infrastructure. These included Armoured Water Cannon (AWC) vehicles, SAR vehicles, rubber boats, portable fire extinguishers (APAR), ambulances, communication equipment, and other supporting gear to ensure everything is in operational readiness.
Through this parade, Metro Jaya Regional Police reaffirmed its commitment to continuously strengthening personnel and equipment preparedness, and to synergising with all stakeholders to deliver a swift, precise and coordinated response in protecting the public from various potential disasters.
