Enteos Club to sue over electricity, phone cuts
JAKARTA (JP): Enteos Club, the exclusive business club whose
offices are on the 30th and 31st floors of the BRI-II building
in Central Jakarta, has filed a lawsuit against PT Mulia Persada
Pacific, which manages the building, for the company's action in
cutting off the electricity and telephone.
One of the club's executives, Linda B. Tani said the action
forced some of the activities held by the club to be canceled.
Citing an example Linda said a seminar which was due to be
attended by the Norwegian ambassador on Dec. 13 had to be
canceled due to the unavailability of electricity, Antara
reported.
She said first court hearings on the lawsuit will be held on
Jan. 27 at the Jakarta State Court.
Linda said on Nov. 28 the club sent a notice to PT Mulia
stating that a lawsuit had been filed against the company.
She said, "We ask that the company pay us Rp 2.2 billion in
compensation. We also demand that the court fine PT Mulia Rp 373
million per day, beginning from the day the company cut off the
electricity and telephone."
Linda said the demand is fair since the high-handed action
taken by PT Mulia has totally crippled the Enteos Club's
activities and considerably decreased the club's daily income.
"We used to earn a net profit ranging from Rp 30 million to Rp 70
million per day," she said.(bas)
