Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung has responded to the ongoing discussion regarding several shopping malls in the capital installing high fences in their front areas. Pramono intends to request that mall management remove these high fences.

“Regarding the installation of fences, I have also observed them. It may be part of certain concerns, but at the appropriate time, I will certainly request that those fences be removed,” Pramono told reporters in Blok M, South Jakarta, on Friday (31/07/2026).

Pramono stated that excessive anxiety is detrimental and noted that he is continuously coordinating with the TNI, Polri, and other law enforcement agencies to safeguard Jakarta.

“Because excessive worry is not good. As the Governor of Jakarta, I am coordinating with the TNI, Polri, and other law enforcement agencies; we will protect Jakarta,” he said.

Pramono suggested that the heightened security measures might be related to the unrest experienced in August last year, though he expressed confidence in the city’s stability.

“Yes, concerns similar to August last year, but hopefully not. I am confident they won’t happen, I am confident,” he explained.

Pramono expressed his hope that Jakarta remains safe and comfortable. He further ensured that the city would always be secure.

“Hopefully, Jakarta remains safe, comfortable, and brings joy to anyone present to enjoy the city, just as we are all enjoying Blok M today,” he concluded.
