Ensuring a Portion of Free Nutritious Meals Remains Safe for Consumption

Behind the meals prepared for the Free Nutritious Meals (MBG) programme, a rigorous inspection process ensures the food is safe for consumption. Officers from the Central Sulawesi Police’s Medical and Health Division (Biddokkes) examined food samples at the Nutrition Fulfilment Service Unit (SPPG) in Palu on Friday (14/8/2026). The inspection tested for substances including formalin, arsenic, nitrite, and cyanide as part of efforts to guarantee food safety before distribution to beneficiaries. In addition to sample testing, the National Nutrition Agency (BGN) has implemented a ‘Rules of 4 Hours’ policy, stipulating that MBG meals must be consumed within four hours of cooking to prevent health risks.
