Enhancing Public Services, BTN Strengthens Collaboration with Tapanuli Utara Regency Government

Tapanuli Utara, VIVA – PT Bank Tabungan Negara (Persero) Tbk (BTN) is strengthening its collaboration with the Tapanuli Utara Regency Government. The partnership encompasses banking services with the Tapanuli Utara Regency Government.

Three strategic Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) were signed, including the BTN Solusi programme with Tarutung Regional General Hospital, as well as an operational development programme with Perumda Mual Na Tio.

BTN’s President Director Nixon LP Napitupulu stated that Tapanuli Utara is supported by a strong agricultural and plantation base. It is bolstered by the tourism potential of the Lake Toba area and its strategic position as one of the economic growth centres in the Tapanuli region.

“The economy of Tapanuli Utara is very strong, supported by productive sectors. Agriculture, forestry, and fisheries contribute around 45 per cent to the regional economy, followed by the trade sector at around 16 per cent and construction at around 13 per cent,” Nixon said, quoted from his statement on Sunday, 10 April 2026.

Data from the Central Statistics Agency (BPS) shows that the economy of Tapanuli Utara grew by around 4.58 per cent in 2025, after previously rising by 4.77 per cent in 2024. This growth is considered to indicate the continuous development of regional economic activity.

Nixon stated that Tapanuli Utara is also an important part of the Lake Toba ecosystem, which is one of the National Super Priority Tourism Destinations. With the increasing development of connectivity, the tourism sector, and economic activities in the Lake Toba area, the need for banking services, financing, housing, MSMEs, and regional infrastructure development is expected to continue to rise.

“BTN wants to be present as part of supporting that growth. Today, BTN is not only talking about housing financing but also focusing on becoming an ecosystem enabler through the BTN Beyond Mortgage strategy,” Nixon explained.

Through the collaboration with the Tapanuli Utara Regency Government, BTN will support regional financial management, strengthen public service transactions, and optimise local original revenue (PAD). In addition, the company is also expanding support for the MSME sector, regional hospital services, and the operational development of regional companies.

Nixon assessed that the collaboration is highly strategic because it covers various sectors directly related to public services and the strengthening of the local economy.

“With the continuous growth potential of Tapanuli Utara’s economy, BTN wants to be present not only as a bank but as a growth partner and empowerment for the people of Tapanuli Utara,” he said.
