Rumah Zakat Samarinda continues to commit to supporting public health through the activities of the Rumah Zakat Samarinda elderly Posyandu in the Pinang Seribu area. This initiative is carried out together with health cadres to improve the quality of life for the elderly.

The programme provides health services as well as education, while also serving as a venue for togetherness among the elderly in the surrounding community. In the Lestari Posyandu, the elderly receive various health services. The checks conducted include blood pressure monitoring, weight measurement, and health condition monitoring.

With these services, the elderly can monitor their health conditions regularly. Therefore, disease prevention measures can be taken earlier. The activities are also complemented by counselling on rheumatic diseases.

The material is delivered by students from the Universitas Muhammadiyah Kalimantan Timur (UMKT).

In the counselling session, participants receive information on the causes, prevention, and management of rheumatism. Thus, the elderly are expected to better understand their health conditions.

The activities then continue with elderly exercise, which is participated in with great enthusiasm. The participants appear eager to follow every guided movement. This exercise aims to maintain physical fitness. In addition, the activities help improve flexibility and reduce the risk of diseases in old age.

The elderly appear to enjoy the entire series of activities. In addition to receiving health services, they also gain beneficial education. On the other hand, these activities provide a moment for socialising, keeping the elderly active and feeling happier.

Rumah Zakat Samarinda, in a statement quoted on Tuesday (21/4/2026), hopes that these activities can continue sustainably. The role of Posyandu cadres is also expected to strengthen in providing services.

Through the Rumah Zakat Samarinda elderly Posyandu programme, it is hoped that the community can experience old age in a healthier, more active, and productive manner.
