The Indonesian Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) confirmed that Deputy Regent Hendri Praja of Rejang Lebong was apprehended in a Sting Operation (OTT) that also ensnared Regent Muhammad Fikri Thobari.

“Yes, he was amongst those secured,” said KPK Spokesperson Budi Prasetyo at the KPK headquarters in Jakarta on Tuesday, 10 March.

Budi explained that both the Regent and Deputy Regent of Rejang Lebong have arrived at the anti-corruption agency’s offices. They will undergo intensive examination by the investigative team.

In accordance with the Criminal Code of Procedure (KUHAP), the KPK has one 24-hour period to determine the legal status of individuals caught in the covert operation.

This arrest in Rejang Lebong adds to the growing list of sting operations conducted by the KPK in early 2026. The covert operation is believed to be strongly related to bribery practices in project execution in the region.

In addition to apprehending the senior officials, the investigative team also seized supporting evidence. Investigators are currently examining money flows and project details that form the subject of the case.

Strengthening oversight alone will not be sufficient without accompanying moral awareness from stakeholders in the region.
