Energy Transition: Mining Issuers Not Fully Abandoning Coal
Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia - Mining issuer providing supporting services for the energy sector, particularly coal, namely PT Astrindo Nusantara Infrastruktur Tbk (BIPI), is optimistic about energy business prospects amid the acceleration of the energy transition programme. The President Director of Astrindo Nusantara Infrastruktur, Ray Anthony Gerungan, stated that BIPI, in supporting the energy transition, is beginning to venture into non-coal businesses such as new and renewable energy (EBT) through solar power plants (PLTS) and hydroelectric power plants (PLTA), as well as waste-to-energy (WtE) projects or waste-to-electricity power plants (PLTSa). Nevertheless, challenges related to funding remain an obstacle, so this programme is being carried out gradually. In the initial stage, the natural gas sector, namely liquefied natural gas (LNG), is becoming part of the business portfolio. What is the direction of mining issuers’ businesses in the energy transition era?
