The Indonesian House of Representatives (DPR RI) is currently undertaking energy-saving efforts. The conditions at the DPR are now pitch black. Observations by detikcom show that lights at the DPR began to be turned off on Monday (30/3/2026) around 6:00 PM WIB. The DPR is now in complete darkness. Only a few lights are visible, such as those in the toilets and near the exit doors. Similar conditions are occurring in the Nusantara I building, Nusantara II building, Nusantara III building, and the turtle-shaped building. Additionally, the escalators in Nusantara II are turned off. Normally, before the energy-saving commitment, these escalators remained on, even until late at night. The atmosphere is quiet as there is no sound at all from air conditioners or other electronics being on. Not only inside the DPR building, but similar conditions are also happening outside the DPR building. The area outside the DPR appears dark, with only some streetlights on. Previously, this energy-saving matter was mentioned by DPR RI Secretary General Indra Iskandar. The DPR RI will limit the use of lights at night and even cut fuel quotas for civil servant (ASN) officials. “On Monday, 30 March, all officials will be complete. So the commitment will be emphasised then. But from the General Bureau that manages vehicles, exercises related to fuel saving have already been conducted,” said DPR Secretary General Indra Iskandar to reporters on Friday (27/3). Indra stated that they are also reducing fuel quotas for ASN officials at the DPR. He mentioned that the fuel quota is reduced by one day per week. “Reducing the fuel quota. We are focusing on ASNs. So currently, temporarily, every Sunday the fuel quota is reduced by one day. For those using operational vehicles for echelon 1, echelon 2, and some echelon 3,” said Indra.
