Jakarta — Indonesia’s Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Bahlil Lahadalia has guaranteed that fuel stocks remain secure throughout the Ramadan and Eid al-Fitr 2026 period. He urged the public not to engage in panic buying at petrol stations (SPBUs).

“Supply presents no problems. Everything is guaranteed for fasting and Eid al-Fitr; there are no issues,” said Bahlil when met at the Energy and Mineral Resources Ministry office in Jakarta on Monday 9 March 2026.

The security of domestic fuel stocks is expected to reassure the public against panic and panic buying. “There is really no need for panic buying,” he added.

In addition, the government has ensured that subsidised fuel prices will not increase at least until Eid. However, Bahlil did not provide further details regarding non-subsidised fuel prices.

“But I want to assure the public again that they need not be concerned about prices, because until Eid there will, God willing, be no increase in subsidised fuel prices,” Bahlil stated.

Furthermore, the government is currently assessing the impact of rising crude oil prices on domestic fuel prices. This follows a sharp increase in global crude oil prices due to international conflicts.

“We are conducting exercises to implement comprehensive measures,” he emphasised.

PT Pertamina (Persero), through PT Pertamina Patra Niaga, has confirmed that national fuel supplies are currently in a safe and controlled condition. Fuel stocks at approximately 21 days represent operational supply maintained within Indonesia’s national energy logistics system to ensure smooth distribution to all regions.

Roberth MV. Dumatubun, Corporate Secretary of Pertamina Patra Niaga, explained that operational supply refers to fuel stored and meeting national storage capacity requirements, which will be distributed to the public. This supply volume is dynamic and continuously updated and replenished according to public energy consumption needs.

“The approximately 21-day fuel stock managed by Pertamina Patra Niaga represents fuel that is normally maintained within the national energy logistics system. This stock is continuously topped up and replenished through domestic refinery production and planned imports, executed routinely so the public need not worry about fuel availability,” said Roberth in a press statement on Friday 6 March 2026.

He added that Pertamina Patra Niaga operates an integrated energy supply chain management system, encompassing crude oil procurement and fuel products, refinery processing, transportation, and distribution to various Indonesian regions. This system ensures energy availability remains secure and accessible to the public equitably.

Through these measures, Pertamina Patra Niaga ensures the national energy supply chain operates smoothly so that public needs are met optimally.
