Energy Efficiency: Bogor Mayor Urges Civil Servants to Switch to Public Transport
Bogor – Bogor Mayor Dedie A. Rachim is encouraging Civil Servants (ASN) within the Bogor City Government to utilise public transport as a measure for energy efficiency. This policy aims to align with the implementation of Work From Home (WFH), which was decided by the central government on Tuesday night (31/3/2026). Meanwhile, for those not covered by public transport, they may use two-wheeled vehicles or electric vehicles. “One of them (public transport) is fine if it’s connected, please go ahead. For those not connected and facing difficulties, they can use two-wheeled vehicles, which are more energy-efficient, right? Using electric vehicles without diesel or petrol is also an alternative,” said Dedie at the Bogor City Hall on Wednesday (1/4/2026). He stated that the fuel budget for official vehicles of department heads in Bogor City has been cut by up to 50 per cent. The policy was discussed with the Regional Financial and Asset Agency (BKAD) of Bogor City. “For savings on official vehicles, I already spoke with BKAD yesterday to cut the allocation of petrol and diesel budgets for the department heads by 50 per cent. So please find alternatives,” he said. “For example, they can use electric vehicles or more energy-efficient vehicles like two-wheeled ones, or indeed travel by public transport,” he added. Dedie also claimed to be setting an example by no longer using official vehicles for out-of-town trips, such as to Bandung. “And I am also setting an example; when I go to Bandung, I no longer bring an official vehicle. So I use public transport,” he said.
