Energy Distribution to Remote Areas Strengthened, DPR Appreciates Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources Village Electricity Programme
Commission XII member of the Indonesian Parliament from the Golkar Party faction, Dewi Yustisiana, has expressed appreciation for the government’s Village Electricity Programme administered by the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM). Under the leadership of Minister Bahlil Lahadalia, the ESDM ministry is expanding electricity access to remote and underdeveloped, frontier, and outermost regions (3T).
Dewi conveyed this appreciation whilst attending the official switching-on ceremony of electricity supply for residents of Sungai Aur Hamlet, Pedamaran IV Village, Ogan Komering Ilir District, South Sumatra, during a parliamentary session recess.
“We appreciate the government’s step through the ESDM ministry, which continues to push for equitable electricity access to remote areas. This village electricity programme is crucial because it not only brings electricity but also opens opportunities for improving people’s quality of life, ranging from education, economic activities, to social and religious activities,” Dewi stated.
Through the programme, approximately 50 household heads in Sungai Aur Hamlet can now enjoy electricity supply after the PLN South Sumatra, Jambi, and Bengkulu Distribution Head Unit activated the electrical network in the area.
Dewi emphasised that the village electricity distribution programme has been consistently championed by Commission XII of the Indonesian Parliament, ensuring that communities in remote areas and 3T regions can enjoy equal access to energy as part of national development equality.
“In Commission XII of the Indonesian Parliament, we continue to encourage the strengthening of village electrification programmes, so that people in remote areas and 3T regions can obtain adequate electricity access. The presence of electricity in villages like this demonstrates that energy sector development truly reaches communities in remote areas,” she concluded.
