Energy and Mineral Resources Ministry Secures Rp14 Trillion Additional Budget from the Ministry of Finance
Ahmad Erani Yustika, the Secretary-General of the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM), said the additional budget of Rp14 trillion for 2026 has been approved by the Ministry of Finance. The extra funds will be used for a number of national strategic projects. “ABT, the additional budget, has come out of the Ministry of Finance. For 2026, our ABT is an additional Rp14 trillion,” Erani said at the ESDM Ministry office in Jakarta, on Tuesday, 19 May 2026. According to him, the village electricity programme is one of the government’s top priorities. “By 2029 it must be finished; all people must have electricity,” Erani said. Earlier, in September 2025, DPR Commission XII approved the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources’ proposed definitive ceiling of Rp21.67 trillion for Fiscal Year 2026. The figure is significantly higher than the initial ceiling of Rp8.12 trillion. The budget is not only for routine expenditures but also to support accelerating the President Prabowo Subianto’s vision and mission. One focus is increasing electrification through the construction of village electricity for communities without access to electricity. Rp5 trillion of the additional funds is allocated specifically for the village electricity programme. The funds will be used to build electrical infrastructure in 1,135 locations. In addition to village electricity, the Ministry’s infrastructure budget will also support other community assistance programmes. These programmes include providing converter kits for fishermen, building city gas networks, and subsidies for new electricity connections for low-income households.
