Ending Tomorrow: Trump's Comments on the Fate of the US Ceasefire with Iran

The United States-Iran ceasefire will end tomorrow night Washington time. President Donald Trump said the fate of the ceasefire will depend on the results of the latest US-Iran negotiations. In an interview with Bloomberg, as reported by CNN on Tuesday (21/4/2026), Trump stated that the US delegation is currently flying to Pakistan to begin the second round of negotiations with Iran. Trump mentioned that the ceasefire with Iran might not be extended if no agreement is reached in the negotiations in Pakistan. “It is very unlikely that I will extend it,” Trump said. The US-Iran ceasefire has been in place since 7 April for two weeks. Trump said he is still awaiting the results of the latest negotiations with Iran to determine the next steps regarding the ceasefire. “I will not rush into a bad deal. We have plenty of time,” Trump stated. When asked if he anticipates fighting to resume soon if they fail to reach an agreement, Trump replied, “If there is no agreement, I certainly anticipate it.”
