Endangering Residents, Tangled Cables in Majalengka's Skyline Begin to be Tidied Up

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, MAJALENGKA – The reorganisation and tidying of overhead cables in Majalengka Regency began on Thursday (16/4/2026). This activity marks the local government’s initial step towards creating a more orderly, aesthetic, and safe urban environment for the community.

The Head of the Communication and Informatics Department (Diskominfo) of Majalengka Regency, Irwan, explained that the initial phase focuses on strategic areas in the city centre. “For the initial stage, our reorganisation starts along Jalan Ahmad Yani and the surrounding city centre area of Majalengka. This area is prioritised due to the high density of cables and as it represents the face of the city,” he stated.

Irwan added that the reorganisation will be extended gradually to other areas once the initial phase runs optimally. “In the future, this programme will continue to be expanded to other points gradually, while prioritising coordination with the operators,” he emphasised.

The Regent of Majalengka, Eman Suherman, stated that the overhead cable reorganisation is part of the local government’s commitment to improving infrastructure quality while supporting a more modern city image. “The reorganisation of overhead cables is very important, not only for aesthetics but also for public safety. Tangled cables pose a potential danger, so they must be organised properly and integrated,” said Eman during the kick-off of the cable reorganisation.

He also stressed the importance of collaboration between the local government and network service providers in the reorganisation process. “We hope all parties, especially operators and network providers, can synergise and follow the established rules for the common interest,” he added.
