End of 'Bang Jago' Extortion Case Involving Plate B Driver in Dago
A man committed thuggery against a car driver with a B-plate in Dago Atas, Bandung, West Java, which went viral on social media. In the circulating video, the perpetrator demanded money from the driver and threatened to damage the vehicle if not complied with.
The incident occurred following the euphoria of Persib Bandung’s 2025/2026 championship celebration. Police launched an investigation and successfully apprehended the suspect.
Extortion Incident Goes Viral in Dago Atas
The incident took place on Saturday, 23 May 2026, in Dago Atas, Bandung. The perpetrator was not wearing a shirt and only had a scarf around his neck.
The suspect, who identified himself as Demon, asked the driver about their origin. Upon learning the victim was from outside Bandung, he demanded money under the pretext of ensuring the driver’s safety.
He also threatened to harm the vehicle if his demands were not met. In the video, he is heard saying, “Add it… add it… add it… I’ll smash it up front, I’ve coordinated with Demon.”
The perpetrator demanded an unspecified amount, saying, “Whatever you like, whether it’s 50,000 rupiah or more, it’s up to you. Just whatever.”
Police Arrest Suspect
After the extortion video went viral, police launched an investigation and successfully apprehended the suspect. Coblong Police Station Chief Kompol Riki Erickson confirmed the suspect was detained for further questioning.
Footage obtained by detikcom shows the suspect entering the interrogation room under police escort. In other images, he sits facing investigators with his head bowed during questioning.
Police are also investigating the sequence of events and motives behind the extortion, which had caused public concern.
Alcohol Influence During Championship Euphoria
Initial investigations revealed the suspect allegedly committed the extortion while under the influence of alcohol. At the time of the incident, he was amidst celebrations of Persib Bandung’s championship victory.
Police stated the suspect and his associates had consumed alcohol together beforehand, and the extortion was carried out to obtain money for more drinks.
“The motive was that during the euphoria, they were drinking together. So perhaps they were short on cash or something, and they asked for money to buy more drinks,” said Coblong Police Station Chief Kompol Riki Erickson.
Police believe the suspect is a supporter who celebrated Persib Bandung’s 2025/2026 Super League victory.
The case gained attention after the video spread widely on social media. The suspect is now detained and undergoing police questioning.
