Enarotali hospital runs short of medicine

JAYAPURA, Irian Jaya: The Enarotali General Hospital has been unable to provide maximum health services to local people because they do not have enough medicine, hospital authorities claimed.

Oktiavianus Kayame, director of the hospital, said the shortage of medicine was caused by the financial difficulties the hospital was facing.

"This occurred because the local administration is giving priority to the physical development program," Antara quoted him as saying here on Monday.

He said he had frequently reported the drug shortages to the local administration but nothing was done about the problem.

"The hospital has hundreds of patients with Tuberculosis, lung and skin diseases. We need an adequate supply of drugs to cure them," he said. --Antara
