Employment law
Employment law
From Republika
Article 14, paragraph 12 of Law No.1, 1951 which confirmed the
enactment of Law No.12, 1948 (known as the Employment Law) reads:
"Workers who have been employed for six consecutive years by one
company are entitled to a three-month-long leave." But up to now,
the law has never been implemented despite the fact the law is
over 45 years old.
In actual life, many companies have applied the law as
stipulated, although the duration of leave may differ from one
company to another. It ranges from two to three months, according
to the regulations of a company.
The bill of the employment law, however, makes no mention of
the three-month-long leave, which is to the disadvantage of
workers, as their rights are curtailed.
I hope the government will pay attention to this matter.
