Police have moved swiftly to investigate an assault case involving a domestic worker identified by the initials FH (21) in Bogor, West Java. The victim’s employer, identified as OAP, has now been named a suspect.

“Today, 19 February 2026, investigators from the PPA-PPO Unit of Bogor Police have conducted a case review to establish suspect status, upgrading the reported party to suspect,” said Head of the PPA/PPO Unit of Bogor Police, AKP Silfi Adi Silfi, speaking to reporters on Thursday (19/2/2026).

Silfi said the perpetrator OAP has not yet been detained. OAP will subsequently be summoned and questioned under suspect status.

“Not yet [arrested]. We will first examine her under suspect status,” he added.

FH reported her employer, OAP, to Bogor Police on suspicion of assault. OAP allegedly assaulted the victim for turning off the stove while cooking.

“Based on the victim’s statement, the incident was related to cooking. The perpetrator was cooking in the kitchen, and the victim accidentally turned off the stove, which caused the perpetrator to become angry and commit violence against the victim. That is based on the victim’s account,” Silfi said.

Silfi said the victim was assaulted by being kicked and punched. The assault resulted in injuries to the victim’s head, back and hands.

“The perpetrator committed physical violence against the complainant or victim, who was a domestic worker at the perpetrator’s residence, by means including kicking, pinching and punching,” Silfi said.

The assault occurred on 22 January 2026. The following day, the victim reported her employer to Bogor Police.

Silfi added that the employer OAP had frequently assaulted the victim. The victim stated that the abuse had been occurring for approximately six months.

“Based on the victim’s statement, the assaults have been taking place for roughly the last six months. The victim has been working as a domestic worker there for approximately two years,” Silfi said.

In handling the case, the PPA and PPO Unit of Bogor Police involved medical experts and had also summoned the suspected perpetrator as a witness.

Based on the evidence and statements gathered, the case was upgraded from preliminary inquiry to formal investigation on 27 January 2026. After sufficient evidence was obtained corroborating the assault as reported by the victim, police named OAP (37) as a suspect.

The victim’s legal counsel, Ruben Alexander Hutagalung, expressed appreciation for the swift action taken by Bogor Police, particularly the PPA and PPO Unit, in handling the case.

“The handling by the PPO Unit has, in our view, been excellent. The service has been good, and investigators acted promptly,” Ruben said.
