The planned execution of the Hotel Sultan area by the Central Jakarta District Court this week has sparked resistance from workers and community groups who claim they are directly affected by the policy. Ahead of the eviction scheduled for Thursday, 18 June 2026, Hotel Sultan employees, together with labour elements and the Civil Coalition of Indigenous Entrepreneurs Defenders, have voiced open rejection. They even stated they are prepared to stage actions to block the execution process if it proceeds.

According to them, the disputed matter essentially concerns land status. However, the impact is considered potentially far-reaching, disrupting business activities, jobs, and the livelihoods of many parties who depend on Hotel Sultan’s operations.

“We are ready to block the execution plan for Hotel Sultan through peaceful and constitutional action. The execution must not be forced by ignoring justice, legal certainty, and the rights of all interested parties,” said orator Al Hams Qamarallah to reporters on Monday, 15 June 2026.

The rejection arose because they assess that while the object of the dispute is the land in the former Hotel Sultan area, the execution is feared to affect the building, business activities, and thousands of parties with economic ties to the hotel.

“The object of the dispute is the land. But what is threatened with closure and takeover is not just the land, but also the building, the hotel business, jobs, tenants, vendors, and the economic lives of many people,” he stated.

The coalition believes that to date, there has been no ruling explicitly stating that the building or business of Hotel Sultan does not belong to PT Indobuildco. Therefore, they argue that a land dispute should not serve as the basis for halting business activities without a clear resolution of rights and compensation.

In addition to requesting the cancellation of the execution, the group is also pushing for a resolution through dialogue between PT Indobuildco and the government, particularly the Ministry of State Secretariat. They hope this step can be taken while waiting for all legal processes to be fully completed.

In its statement, the coalition also conveyed several other demands, including protection for workers and affected third parties, respect for the rights of HGB title holders, and consideration of the social and economic impacts should the eviction proceed.
