Employee Steals Operational Motorcycle After Just One Month on the Job
Police have arrested a 42-year-old man, identified by the initials ASW alias AS, for stealing an operational motorcycle provided to him by his employer. The suspect duplicated the vehicle’s key before carrying out the theft.
The case was reported by AGS (38), a broiler chicken entrepreneur operating at the Simpasa Summarecon Mall Bekasi ruko complex in Marga Mulya Village, North Bekasi District, Bekasi City. The perpetrator had only been working at the business for one month.
“We apprehended the suspect two days after the incident, precisely on Friday (15/5/2026), in the Jalan Pintu Air area, in front of the Al Ikhwan Prayer Room, North Bekasi, along with the evidence of the motorcycle which had not yet been sold,” said Bekasi City Police Chief, Commissioner Kusumo Wahyu Bintoro, on Saturday (13/6/2026).
The case began when the suspect secretly duplicated the ignition key of the operational Honda Beat motorcycle, with registration number B-4950-TFG, at a roadside key maker. The victim, AGS, had provided operational motorcycles to his employees to deliver orders of cut chicken meat to customers.
When ASW was not on duty, he sneaked into the ruko parking area and stole his boss’s operational motorcycle. The victim then checked the CCTV footage around the location and discovered that his own employee had stolen the motorcycle.
“The motive was purely economic pressure, but this act was carefully planned through the key duplication modus. It is very regrettable that after only one month of work, he dared to steal his employer’s motorcycle,” the police chief stated.
For his actions, the suspect ASW has been placed in a detention cell and charged under Article 477 of Law No. 1 of 2023 concerning the Criminal Code, which carries a maximum penalty of seven years in prison.
In a separate case, the Bekasi City Police also uncovered a motorcycle theft in the densely populated residential area of Kranji Village, West Bekasi District, Bekasi City, on Tuesday (9/6). Two suspects, identified by the initials AS and AJS, were arrested.
Before carrying out their crime, the two suspects held a drinking party with their friends. Under the influence of alcohol, AS and AJS rode a motorcycle together, searching for a target vehicle parked without supervision in the residential area.
Suspect AS, acting as the executor, got off the motorcycle and attempted to damage the ignition housing of the target motorcycle using a modified T-key. Meanwhile, suspect AJS waited and monitored the situation.
“However, their action was suddenly spotted by the victim’s child, who shouted at the perpetrators. Panicked because their act had been discovered, the two suspects immediately tried to speed away on their motorcycle, but they lost control and fell on the road,” the police chief explained.
The victim, who was chasing them, managed to hold onto the suspects’ motorcycle and shouted, drawing the attention of a crowd and police personnel who were on patrol. The police are still investigating the origin of the T-key, which the suspects admitted they had bought a long time ago and kept for emergencies.
“We have charged the suspects with serious criminal offences, with a maximum penalty of seven years in prison. We urge residents of Bekasi City to remain extra vigilant, use double locks, and immediately report via the Call Center 110 if they see suspicious activity in their neighbourhood,” he said.
