Head of region, head of the Education Office, head of schools, and all education organisers must be exemplars in building a bureaucracy that is clean and operates with integrity.

Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Attorney General’s Office (Kejaksaan Agung, Kejagung) RI emphasised the need for effective mitigation steps to prevent various forms of cheating, abuse of authority, and gratification in the administration of the New Student Admission System (SPMB) for the 2026/2027 academic year.

Deputy Attorney General for Intelligence (JAM-Intel) Reda Manthovani conveyed a message from Attorney General ST Burhanuddin that measures to prevent cheating must become the top priority in implementing the SPMB.

‘In this regard I will read out the message from the Attorney General. Effective prevention will be able to minimise the potential for abuse of power, as well as the potential for corruption in the process of student admissions,’ Reda said during the signing of the Joint Commitment for a Friendly SPMB at the Ministry of Education and Culture’s building in Jakarta, on Thursday.

Local governments (Pemda) and the Education Department, he said, must be at the forefront of safeguarding the integrity of the SPMB in their respective regions.

‘The heads of regions, the heads of the Education Department, the heads of schools, and all education organisers must set an example in building a bureaucratic culture that is clean and with integrity,’ Reda Manthovani said.

Reda regards the joint commitment organised by Kemendikdasmen as a form of national commitment to providing an education system that is fair, transparent, inclusive, and with integrity.

‘The state is obliged to ensure that access to education occurs on an equal basis without discrimination or practices that undermine the sense of justice in society,’ he stated.

Therefore Reda emphasised that the SPMB must operate transparently, inclusively, and free from all forms of discrimination and deviation.

With the commitment to integrity and joint oversight, Reda believes the 2026/2027 academic year’s SPMB can serve as a blueprint for public service that is clean, humane, and just.

‘Holding the law to account is not merely about repressive action, but also an instrument to ensure the governance system runs in an orderly, clean, and accountable manner. Therefore, cross-ministry and agency synergy in supervising the Friendly SPMB is a strategic step in building a good governance culture,’ said Reda Manthovani.
