Residents felt a sense of emotion upon attending the Lebaran open house held at the Palace in Jakarta. They expressed delight at being able to see and shake hands directly with President Prabowo Subianto.

This sentiment was shared by online motorcycle taxi driver Aji Agung Waruna. He expressed thanks for the opportunity to enter the Palace grounds and shake hands directly with Prabowo.

“Alhamdulillah, this year I was able to meet directly with President Prabowo. And I thank President Prabowo for holding this open house for the Indonesian people, a thousand thanks,” said Agung at the Palace in Jakarta on Saturday (21/3/2026).

Similar joy was felt by Thalia and Marco, who had long awaited this moment. Usually only seeing him on TV, they were surprised to meet and shake hands directly with Prabowo.

“Of course, we’re extremely happy, because we usually only see him on television and mobile phones. Now we can meet him directly, it’s really exciting,” she said.

“Especially being able to shake hands directly with Mr Prabowo. May Mr Prabowo always be healthy and successful in advancing Indonesia,” Thalia continued.

A similar story came from Fitri, a resident originally from Padang now living in Kebon Kacang. She expressed pride at being able to shake hands directly with Prabowo during this special moment.

“This is my first time coming to the Palace. Meeting the President, shaking hands, getting to shake hands directly with the President, it feels so proud,” Fitri revealed.

Even though she arrived without special preparation, Fitri said she was satisfied with the experience. She hopes similar events will continue in the future as a sign of the leader’s closeness to the people.

“Hopefully in the coming years, open houses like this will still be held,” she emphasised.

Previously, Prabowo held an open house at the Palace in Jakarta for the general public. At the Palace, various food and drink menus were served for consumption. Residents also had the chance to enter the State Palace.

Prabowo, accompanied by his son Didit Hediprasetyo, briefly greeted the attendees. The two appeared to walk among the crowd at the location.

Prabowo was seen circling the queue for food servings and shaking hands with residents. The residents at the location enthusiastically welcomed Prabowo’s arrival.

Those who were eating immediately stopped and stood to watch Prabowo. Residents extended their hands to shake with Prabowo.

“Mr Prabowo, Mr Prabowo,” residents’ shouts echoed.

“Long live Mr Prabowo,” another resident chimed in.

They also captured the moment of Prabowo’s arrival. Didit occasionally obliged residents’ requests for selfies.
