Emotional Moment: Mother of Seafarer Fandi Ramadhan Prostrates Before House Commission III Chief, Pleads for Justice for Her Son
Jakarta – On Thursday, 26 February 2026, Nirwana, the mother of seafarer (ABK) Fandi Ramadhan who faces a death sentence, came to the House of Representatives building to participate in a hearing discussion with Commission III of the House of Representatives. During the session, Nirwana, accompanied by prominent lawyer Hotman Paris Hutapea, was seen prostrating herself at the feet of Commission III chief Habiburokhman.
In a video uploaded to the TikTok account @Haposan.sihombing92, the incident began when the hearing concluded. Nirwana quickly rose from her seat and walked towards Commission III chief Habiburokhman. Habiburokhman stood from his chair and approached Hotman Paris to shake hands. On the other side, Nirwana then approached Habiburokhman to shake his hand. However, moments later, Nirwana knelt down before the Commission III chief.
Upon seeing this, Habiburokhman immediately knelt down level with Fandi Ramadhan’s mother. Nirwana appeared to be crying before Habiburokhman and pleaded for her son to receive justice.
“Please help my son, sir. I beg you, sir, please help,” said Nirwana.
“Yes, yes, everyone is helping, yes,” replied Habiburokhman.
Nirwana then knelt down and prostrated herself before the Commission III chief. Seeing this, Habiburokhman attempted to prevent Nirwana from prostrating herself. However, Nirwana did not heed his words.
“Please don’t do that, madam,” said Habiburokhman as he stepped back.
“Yes, definitely. Bang Hotman is also helping,” added Habiburokhman.
During the hearing, Commission III chief Habiburokhman demanded that the Deputy Attorney General for Supervision reprimand the public prosecutor in the case of the seafarer on the Sea Dragon Terawa vessel carrying 2 tonnes of methamphetamine, Muhammad Arfian. He stated that prosecutor Muhammad Arfian accused the DPR and the public of intervening in the case in which all defendants face death sentence charges.
“We request that the Deputy Attorney General for Supervision reprimand the prosecutor Muhammad Arfian at the State Court in Batam yesterday, who implicitly but very clearly stated that the public and the House of Representatives are intervening in the death sentence charges against Fandi Ramadhan,” said Habiburokhman.
