Emir of Qatar to Visit Indonesia at Year-End

The Emir of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, will visit Indonesia at the end of this year. The plan was conveyed by a Qatari representative during a meeting with President Prabowo Subianto at the Merdeka Palace in Jakarta on Monday, 15 June 2026. On Monday, Qatar’s Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Sultan bin Saad Al-Muraikhi, met with Prabowo at the Palace. According to Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya, the meeting also discussed the Emir of Qatar’s planned visit to Indonesia at the end of 2026. Teddy stated that the upcoming state visit is expected to be an important milestone in commemorating half a century of diplomatic relations between Indonesia and Qatar. “The planned visit of the Emir of Qatar to Indonesia at the end of 2026 will be an important milestone marking the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Indonesia and Qatar,” Teddy said in a written statement. During the same meeting, Teddy claimed Qatar also reaffirmed its commitment to continue strengthening investment in Indonesia. The Qatari government, he said, conveyed an investment commitment worth US$4 billion and opened opportunities for expanding investment in various other sectors. President Prabowo had previously visited Qatar on 12 September 2025. At that time, Prabowo met the Emir of Qatar at the Lusail Palace in Doha. Prabowo’s arrival was welcomed directly by the Emir of Qatar on the palace’s outer veranda. Israel had attacked Doha just days before Prabowo’s visit. The Chairman of the Gerindra Party expressed deep sympathy for the communities affected by the incident. President Prabowo affirmed that Indonesia supports Qatar’s sovereignty. In addition, the Head of State also stressed the importance of international solidarity in responding to attacks that threaten regional stability. Beyond discussing the global security situation, President Prabowo and the Emir of Qatar also discussed global dynamics, including the escalation of conflict in the Middle East. President Prabowo emphasised the need for an active role of friendly nations to maintain geopolitical balance and promote international dialogue.
