Jakarta (ANTARA) - Indonesian national team goalkeeper Emil Audero is reportedly on Juventus’ radar as they plan to revamp their goalkeeping lineup for next season.

According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, quoted on Friday, Emil’s name has emerged in Juventus’ search after they expressed dissatisfaction with the performance of their current goalkeepers, first-choice Michele Di Gregorio and second-choice Mattia Perin.

“Regarding goalkeepers, Juventus is highly likely to undergo a complete overhaul this summer. Perin, whose contract expires in 2027, has expressed his desire to be the starter since last year, while (Carlo) Pinsoglio (the third-choice goalkeeper), who will be 36 years old in March, may decide to retire,” the Italian media outlet wrote.

“Therefore, Juventus is also monitoring several mid-tier goalkeepers from Serie A: Ivan Provedel (Lazio), Lorenzo Montipò (Verona), Wladimiro Falcone (Lecce), Federico Ravaglia (Bologna), and Emil Audero (Cremonese), whose contract expires in June and is a graduate of the Juventus academy—an important detail to avoid using up a squad slot for Serie A and the Champions League,” they added.

According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, Emil, who has four caps with the Garuda squad, is not being considered as Juventus’ main goalkeeper for next season, but rather as a backup goalkeeper.

This season, the 29-year-old goalkeeper has been playing for Cremonese, one of the two teams that managed to defeat AC Milan this season. With Cremonese, Emil has made 22 appearances and recorded seven clean sheets.

Meanwhile, Juventus’ pursuit of a main goalkeeper is focused on Tottenham Hotspur’s Italian goalkeeper, Guglielmo Vicario. Juventus hopes that Vicario will become a great goalkeeper for them in the coming seasons, just as they once had Gianluigi Buffon and Wojciech Szczesny.

The competition to sign Vicario, who will turn 30 this year, is expected to be fierce, given that Inter Milan is also likely to target him to replace Yann Sommer.

If they fail to secure Vicario, Juventus is reportedly planning to turn to Atalanta’s goalkeeper, Marco Carnesecchi. The 25-year-old goalkeeper has been La Dea’s goalkeeper for the past three years, with a total of 87 appearances in Serie A.
