Emergency Response to NTT Earthquake Accelerated, Private Sector Aid Arrives

The Indonesian government is accelerating emergency response and recovery efforts following the M 7.7 earthquake that struck the Flores region of East Nusa Tenggara (NTT).

This affirmation was delivered directly on the sidelines of the 81st Anniversary of the Independence of the Republic of Indonesia, held at Motang Rua Field, Ruteng, Manggarai Regency, NTT, on Monday (17/8/2026).

Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Cultural Affairs (Menko PMK) Pratikno stated that the presence of ministers and heads of institutions in NTT since the first day of the incident reflects the government’s concern and commitment to supporting affected communities.

“Since the first day of the incident, we have been in NTT to inspect the field and discuss accelerating recovery,” he said, as quoted from an official statement in Jakarta.

The private sector is also providing assistance to accelerate disaster response. Bakti BCA, in cooperation with the Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI), has dispatched humanitarian aid for victims of the natural disaster in East Nusa Tenggara (NTT). The aid was sent to ease the burden on NTT communities affected by the earthquake that struck on Saturday (15/8/2026).
