Emergency Air Evacuation Drill Conducted in Bogor City ahead of Eid Holiday Exodus
Officials from Bogor City’s Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) conducted an emergency evacuation drill via air routes at Situ Gede in Bogor City, West Java, on Tuesday, 10 March 2026. Working in collaboration with Basarnas, the National Search and Rescue Agency, personnel practised victim evacuation techniques using helicopter rappelling and rubber boats during the simulation.
The joint evacuation drill, conducted by Basarnas and BPBD Bogor City, was designed to train personnel and strengthen disaster preparedness and emergency response capabilities. The exercise addressed potential emergency situations that could arise during the mudik (homecoming) travel period and Eid holiday break, when millions of Indonesians typically travel across the country.
The simulation involved deploying a Basarnas helicopter and specialised rescue equipment to practise extracting victims from water and challenging terrain. By conducting realistic drills ahead of the holiday period, the agencies aimed to ensure their teams were prepared to respond swiftly and effectively to any emergencies that might occur during the high-traffic travel season.
