Embassy donates medicine

JAKARTA: The Philippine Embassy in Jakarta donated medicines worth Rp 1 billion to the Ministry of Health to help alleviate the effects of the economic crisis.

The donation consists of 558 boxes of antibiotics, a release from the embassy said.

The medicine will be distributed to needy people in Jakarta as well as other provinces.

Philippine envoy Leonides T. Caday handed over the aid to Minister of Health Farid Anfasa Moeloek in a ceremony on Monday.

The Philippines made similar donations worth some Rp 500 million in March and August 1998. (edt)
