Embankment Collapse Affects 200 Families in Central Tapanuli Flood

The North Sumatra Disaster Management Operations Control Centre (Pusdalops) has recorded that 200 families were affected by flooding in Central Tapanuli Regency. Sri Wahyuni, Head of Emergency Handling at the North Sumatra Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD), stated that the flooding was caused by the collapse of an emergency embankment on the Aek Siaga Laga River on Friday (17/7). “Based on reports, the embankment collapsed due to heavy rainfall hitting the area,” Sri Wahyuni said in Medan on Saturday. She noted that the affected families are residents of Sipange Village in Tukka District. The local district government has undertaken various response efforts, including strengthening coordination and evacuating residents. The North Sumatra BPBD is also coordinating disaster management efforts at the affected location. “The current condition is that the river has receded and returned to normal,” Sri Wahyuni said.
