Elon Musk Suddenly Claims Human Population Will Go Extinct, Here's Why

Elon Musk has suddenly issued a warning about the potential extinction of the human population. This was in response to Singapore’s low birth rate, which has reached 0.87 children per woman.

Citing Asia One, Elon Musk, via his X account, responded to a post by another user named XFreeze who highlighted the steps taken by Singapore Prime Minister Lawrence Wong to address the birth rate in the Lion City.

“Humans will disappear,” Musk wrote, as reported by Asia One on Saturday (29/8).

Musk’s post has been viewed by more than 7.5 million X users and received 20,000 likes.

The viral post is not the first time the Tesla boss has commented on Singapore’s low and continuously declining birth rate. In December 2024, Musk made a similar statement.

He warned that Singapore and several other countries would become extinct due to low birth rates, an ageing population, and a shrinking working-age workforce.

X users were divided into two groups in responding to Musk’s comment. Some agreed, while others voiced criticism.

One user criticised the comment by explaining that economic conditions influence birth rates. The user explained that the rising cost of housing is a crucial factor.

“One of the issues we face is the high cost of housing. As housing costs rise, birth rates fall,” one user wrote.
