Elon Musk Increasingly Erratic, His Statements Make Less and Less Sense

Elon Musk has once again made statements that are considered both illogical and dangerous for the direction of artificial intelligence development worldwide. After SpaceX acquired the AI company Cursor for US$60 billion, Musk explained his reason for accelerating AI development, which sounded contrary to common sense.

In an all-hands meeting with Cursor employees after the acquisition was completed, Musk explained why he needed to speed up AI development at SpaceX. According to him, one day AI models will become so advanced that they will be impossible for humans to control.

However, the conclusion he drew was very strange. Because AI will inevitably spin out of control, SpaceX must be the first to build it.

This reasoning immediately drew widespread criticism. If AI is indeed certain to escape human control, why are giant companies racing to build AI?

Musk did not even argue that his company is the most trustworthy party to build AI safely, as his competitor Anthropic often claims.

For Musk, the only thing that matters is who reaches the finish line first, without regard for safety or the impact on humanity.

Concerns about Musk’s logic are not without reason. His AI product, Grok, has repeatedly sparked serious controversy. The AI has been found to spread racist ideas, call itself the reincarnation of Adolf Hitler, praise white supremacist conspiracy theories, and produce millions of sexually explicit deepfake images of real people, including children.

Indonesia even temporarily blocked access to Grok because of these security risks.

Instead of fixing its safety systems, Musk has allowed the AI to develop without adequate controls. Critics argue that Musk’s attitude proves he is the last person who should be trusted to control the future of artificial intelligence.

Observers warn that Musk’s mindset is extremely dangerous. If leaders in the AI industry assume from the outset that AI will inevitably spin out of control, why build safety systems, safeguards, limits or oversight? The spirit becomes whoever is fastest holds power, without caring whether their creation is safe for humans or not.
