Elon Musk Could Become World's First Trillionaire via SpaceX IPO, Wealth Reaches IDR 31,559 Trillion
Elon Musk is reportedly on the verge of becoming the first person in the world to amass a fortune exceeding US$1 trillion, following news that SpaceX is preparing an initial public offering (IPO) with a valuation reaching US$1.77 trillion, or approximately IDR 31,559 trillion. A CNBC report cited by The Jerusalem Post on Thursday (4/6) stated that SpaceX plans to offer shares at a fixed price of US$135 per share. According to documents reportedly filed with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), the aerospace company will release around 555.6 million shares in the IPO, potentially raising about US$75 billion, equivalent to IDR 1,337 trillion. Additionally, some 83.33 million shares will be available for purchase by early investors at the same price. Despite this, Musk is still expected to retain approximately 82% of the voting rights in the company. At this offering price, SpaceX’s valuation is estimated at US$1.77 trillion. Major financial institutions such as Goldman Sachs, Morgan Stanley, Bank of America, Citigroup, and JPMorgan Chase are reportedly among the investors interested in participating in the IPO. The report indicates that SpaceX’s stock debut on the Nasdaq exchange is anticipated to occur on 12 June. Based on Forbes estimates, Musk is expected to retain roughly a 42% stake in SpaceX following the IPO. That holding would be worth approximately US$688 billion, or IDR 12,265 trillion. Prior to the IPO, the value of Musk’s stake in SpaceX was estimated at US$500 billion, or about IDR 8,915 trillion. The valuation increase is partly driven by the business integration of SpaceX with his artificial intelligence company, xAI. ‘SpaceX’s post-IPO value is the primary factor that could potentially push Musk’s wealth past the US$1 trillion mark,’ the report stated. Aside from SpaceX, Musk’s wealth also derives from his stake in Tesla, estimated at around US$174 billion or IDR 3,102 trillion, as well as other ventures such as Neuralink and The Boring Company. The report also highlighted Musk’s business strategy, which began with the US$44 billion acquisition of Twitter, worth around IDR 785 trillion, in 2022. After being rebranded as X and merged with xAI, the combined entity briefly attained a valuation of roughly US$113 billion, or IDR 2,015 trillion. Subsequently, the integration with SpaceX reportedly yielded a valuation of around US$250 billion, or IDR 4,458 trillion, an increase of approximately US$206 billion (IDR 3,673 trillion) compared to the initial value at the time of the Twitter acquisition. Should the IPO plan proceed as projected, Musk is expected to further cement his position as the world’s richest person.
