Elon Musk Causes Distraction, Films Surroundings as Trump Meets Xi Jinping

Tesla boss Elon Musk joined the entourage of the world’s richest individuals brought by US President Donald Trump to China. Elon Musk then went viral for spinning 360 degrees while filming a video in the Great Hall of the People, Beijing.

According to CBS News and CNN on Friday (15/5/2026), Musk was seen standing with Apple CEO Tim Cook and US officials brought by Trump to China. They were standing on the steps of the building to witness Trump’s meeting with Chinese President Xi Jinping.

In that moment, Elon Musk appeared to take out his mobile phone. He was then seen spinning while filming the atmosphere of the Great Hall of the People.

Additionally, Musk was highlighted for his expression when a server offered drinks inside the meeting room. His expression during a selfie with Xiaomi CEO Lei Jun also sparked discussion among netizens. Musk was also spotlighted for bringing his son, X, to the meeting.

For information, Trump deliberately brought American businesspeople on his historic visit to China. Trump called it an effort to make business deals and bring back jobs.

“I didn’t invite them. They all wanted to come and they’re all here. These people are here to make deals and bring back jobs,” Trump said to Fox News as reported by BBC.

“China will invest hundreds of billions of dollars with the people in that room today,” Trump said.
