Elnusa Petrofin Begins Distribution of B50 Industrial Diesel from Pulau Laut IBT

PT Elnusa Petrofin has begun distributing B50 industrial diesel from the Indonesia Bulk Terminal (IBT) in Pulau Laut, South Kalimantan. This inaugural distribution marks the implementation of the mandatory B50 programme for the industrial sector, in accordance with government policy. The programme is based on the Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Decree Number 257.K/EK.01/MEM.E/2026 concerning the obligation to blend 50 percent biodiesel into diesel fuel through the financing scheme of the Plantation Fund Management Agency (BPDP). As a subsidiary of PT Elnusa Tbk, which is part of Pertamina’s Upstream Subholding, Elnusa Petrofin prepared terminal operations, the blending process, and the distribution of B50 Industrial Diesel to industrial sector customers. The first receipt of Fatty Acid Methyl Ester (FAME) with B50 specifications was carried out on 1 July 2026 via the vessel MT Ocean Link. Subsequently, the B50 Industrial Diesel was distributed on 2 July 2026 to the vessel OB Ocean Brave for customer VHS Patra Logistik. PT Elnusa Petrofin President Director Doni Indrawan stated that the first distribution of B50 represents the company’s support for the government’s efforts to strengthen national energy security through increased use of biofuel. ‘The mandatory B50 programme is a strategic step in strengthening national energy security while increasing the utilisation of energy based on domestic resources. Elnusa Petrofin is proud to support the first distribution of B50 Industrial Diesel, especially for the mining sector which plays an important role in the national economy,’ said Doni. The IBT Pulau Laut Fuel Terminal receives supplies of FAME and diesel for the blending process before distribution to industrial customers, particularly the mining sector. The terminal is equipped with an Automatic Inline Blending (ILB) facility that allows the biodiesel mixing process to be carried out automatically within the pipeline with a flow capacity of 250 to 1,000 kilolitres per hour. This technology enables the blending process to proceed precisely and meet quality standards before the product is distributed to customers. The implementation of B50 is expected to increase the use of biofuel-based energy, reduce dependence on imported fossil fuels, and support the national energy transition targets.
