Elize's dossier sent to prosecutor

JAKARTA (JP): City police submitted on Thursday the dossiers on bomb suspects Elize Maria Tuwahatu and her mother Sonya to the Jakarta Prosecutor's Office.

City police spokesman Sr. Comr. Anton Bahrul Alam said Elize would be charged with possessing three bombs, while her mother would be charged with assisting her in the commission of a crime.

"We (the police) think that we have enough evidence and witnesses to charge Elize and her mother," Anton told reporters at his office.

He stated that Elize would be charged with violating Emergency Law No. 12/1951 on explosives which carries a maximum penalty of death.

He said that for the time being Elize and her mother were being detained in the city police lockup.

"We will hand over the suspects and the evidence to the prosecutors after they decide that the dossiers are complete," he added.

The 33-year-old Elize was caught red-handed on Jan. 19 with the three bombs at the Beautiful Indonesia in Miniature theme park (TMII) in East Jakarta. Police also arrested Elize's mother at her house on Jl. Suwiryo, Menteng, Central Jakarta for knowingly allowing the bombs to be stored in the house.

Elize claimed that the bombs were given to her by former president Soeharto's fugitive son Hutomo "Tommy" Mandala Putra four days before she was arrested. (jun)
