Elina Svitolina Wins Third Italian Open Title After Defeating Coco Gauff
Ukrainian tennis player Elina Svitolina has won the Italian Open for the third time in her career after defeating Coco Gauff in the final. The 31-year-old came back from a set down to win 6-4, 6-7 (3-7), 6-2.
Svitolina had a tough road to the final, having to beat two other top players in three sets each. In the final, she was able to break Gauff’s serve early and often, which helped her to take control of the match.
This is Svitolina’s third Italian Open title, after winning in 2017 and 2018. She is now one of only a few players to have won the tournament three times.
