An ‘Elf’ minibus with registration number Z 7655 DB plunged into a ravine approximately 20 metres deep on the Banjarwangi Highway, Banjarwangi District, Garut Regency, on Sunday (7/6/2026). As a result, 15 passengers sustained injuries and were rushed to the hospital for medical treatment.

“It was a single-vehicle traffic accident involving an Elf minibus that fell into a ravine about 20 metres deep,” stated Garut Police Head of Public Relations, Inspector Susilo Adhi, when confirmed on Monday (8/6/2026).

He explained that the minibus, driven by Edi Mulyana (54), was travelling from a wedding ceremony in Kampung Haurkuning, Kadungora District, Garut, towards Cikajang. However, while navigating a bend, the driver lost control of the vehicle on the terrain, causing it to fall into the ravine.

“It is suspected that the driver had not yet mastered the road conditions, causing the Elf, carrying 15 people, to plunge into a ravine of approximately 20 metres,” he said.

He confirmed that there were no fatalities in the accident. All victims have received medical care at the nearest hospital.

“There were no deaths,” he added.

He further noted that officers have completed the crime scene investigation (TKP), and the wreckage of the vehicle has been evacuated to a safer location. The police have urged the public to exercise caution while driving.
