Elephant kills two in Malaysia
KUALA LUMPUR (AFP): A rogue elephant has attacked and killed a husband and wife and injured their daughter in northeast Malaysia, Bernama news agency said on Friday.
The three were heading home from a river fishing trip when they were attacked Thursday at Lubuk Belimbing village in Terengganu state.
The daughter, Siti Aminah Ismail (36), told Bernama from her hospital bed that her aunt who was with them escaped only by hiding in bushes.
She said the elephant suddenly charged them, grabbing her father with its trunk and throwing him to the ground. It pushed her with its trunk before turning its attention to her mother and aunt. Siti Aminah suffered a facial injury and bruises. Her parents were both aged 59.
